A long layover?
Turn it into a little trip.
LAYOVO tells you whether you can leave the airport, how much time you’ll have in town, what to see and when to head back.

How it works
Three steps to turn
your layover into a discovery.

Enter your layover
Choose your airport, then enter your arrival time and your next boarding time. Thirty seconds is all it takes.

LAYOVO does the maths
LAYOVO tells you whether you can leave the airport, then takes off checks, travel and the return margin: you see how much time you really have in town.

Always 30 minutes early at the gate.
Going out during a layover is above all about getting back. LAYOVO counts everything that takes time and brings you back to your boarding gate 30 minutes early.
- Every check is countedBorder control, security, baggage claim if needed: this time is taken off in advance, so you’re never caught short.
- Journeys you can rely onTrain, metro, bus or taxi: LAYOVO uses real timetables, first and last departures, and travel time both ways.
- We remind you to head backA reminder tells you when to leave the city, and you can set an alarm on your phone.
Your travel journal
Collect a stamp at every layover.
Tell us about your layover once it is over: a stamp of the city joins your collection, your badges grow and your memories stay in your journal.
Open my journalCan I leave the airport during my layover?
Often, yes. Leaving the airport means entering the country of your layover: it all depends on your nationality, your documents, the country you’re stopping in and where your flights come from.
LAYOVO shows you the simple cases for the chosen airport and points to official sources for the others. Always check your situation before you go.
How does LAYOVO calculate the time I have?
It starts from your arrival time and the boarding start time of your next flight. It subtracts deplaning, walking, border checks, baggage reclaim if needed, the return trip, security on the way back and the walk to the gate, using times specific to the airport.
What’s left is your time in town. The “Your layover hour by hour” timeline details each step.
Why come back 30 minutes before the gate opens?
It’s LAYOVO’s safety margin: you are at the gate 30 minutes before boarding starts, to absorb a longer check, a gate change or a transport delay. The time to leave the city already takes it into account.
How does LAYOVO choose the transport?
For each airport, LAYOVO compares the transport available to the city centre — train, metro, bus, taxi or ride-hailing — with its duration, indicative price and first and last departures. You choose the ones that suit you in the form; your time in town changes with your choice.
